I'm probably doing something wrong but the maps will not show on registration or as a module attached to https://mostlyworking.com/index.php/classified

do you mean the map does not show anything.
I've checked on your site and found a map module: https://goo.gl/bLcXIE and it looks like something is set wrong in the settings as it shows close up to antlantic ocean near Africa, when I click minus sign on the map it's more visible.
